DDA Building Facade Award Program
The DDA offers an AWARD program for eligible improvements for properties located in the DDA District.
The intent of the Building Facade Award Program is to strengthen the economic viability of downtown Romeo by providing incentives for improving the exterior of existing buildings. The Building Award Program encourages the preservation of the architectural heritage and the unique atmosphere of historic downtown Romeo. The best approach to encouraging compatible downtown building design is through preservation of a buildingâs original architectural features whenever possible.
Request for Funding an Event or Program
The purpose of The Romeo Downtown Development Authority is to correct and prevent deterioration in the Romeo Business District; to encourage historic preservation; to authorize the creation and implementation of development plans in the district and promote economic growth.
The Romeo Downtown Development Authority may consider requests for funding events or programs within the Downtown DDA District that promote, enhance, and otherwise benefit the Downtown DDA District and help the DDA achieve the stated purpose above.
Sign Grant Program
The DDA offer s a grant program for eligible improvements for business signage for commercial property located in the DDA District.
This is a matching grant program with applicants potentially receiving up to 50 percent of the cost of eligible signage improvements. Funds are available for this program on a first come, first served basis. In 2016 â 2017, the Romeo DDA allocated $1,500.00 for improvements. The SIGN Grant Program provides partial reimbursement for eligible signage improvements for current buildings and new construction, to property owners and new or expanding downtown business tenants.
A maximum reimbursement of $500.00 per business may be paid by the DDA. This ceiling will be reviewed annually and may be adjusted according to funds available for the SIGN Grant Program.
Downtown Dawg Award
Entrepreneurs who are interested in opening a business in Downtown Romeo and want to be considered for a Downtown Dawg Award, will contact the Romeo DDA to fill out an application.
The application will be reviewed and voted on by the Romeo DDA Board for approval of funding. If your business is selected and approved you will receive:
A monetary award up to $ 5 000
A DDA Board member mentor for 1 year
Access to free webinars and business workshops for 1 year
Spotlight on Romeo DDA website for 1 year
Spotlight on Romeo DDA social media for 1 year
