Downtown Romeo to host sidewalk sales during tri-community garage sale

Author:

The tri-community garage sale weekend is an unofficial kickoff to summer. With a large number
of participants in the Village of Romeo and in neighboring communities, crowds gather to search
for vintage wares around town.

“The Garage Sale is a big event community wide between Washington, Romeo and Bruce Twp.
and one that I get a lot of calls on,”
said Kay Pochert, executive director for the Romeo DDA.
“Folks don’t want to miss it and love to participate.”

The garage sale extends across Romeo, Washington Twp. and Bruce Twp. The annual event
was originally started by a community member and was taken over by RWB Parks & Recreation
in 2010.

This year, area businesses are joining in on the fun.

For the first time, Downtown Romeo will host a sidewalk sale alongside the garage sale.
Businesses, especially those on Main Street are being invited to participate.

“Having the Downtown join in will allow people to ‘make a day of it,’” she said. “They can stop
and recharge at one of our many restaurants, enjoy a stroll through the park and also find some
amazing deals.”

Some of the specials people can check out are $5 sidewalk items at FAMS, a 20% off storewide
clearance sale at Old World Nouveau and best merchandise prices of the year at MJC
Marketplace.

The sidewalk sale takes place from June 12-15. For a full list of businesses, check out the
downtown shopping directory and restaurant directory.
